BarSmith Barcode Maker turns a product number, SKU, carton code, book ISBN or GS1 Application Identifier string into a scannable barcode drawn to the GS1 and ISO rules: correct check digits, quiet zones, guard bars, bearer bars, and the shortest Code 128 encoding. It explains wrong check digits, tells you the exact print size, and gives a vector SVG and a PNG that prints at the right physical size.
What it does
- EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E (with expansion to UPC-A), ISBN and ISSN book and magazine barcodes, with 2- and 5-digit add-ons
- Code 128 with automatic code set A/B/C switching for the shortest symbol, and GS1-128 with FNC1 and validated Application Identifiers such as (01), (17), (10)
- Code 39 with optional modulo-43 check character, ITF-14 carton codes with bearer bars
- Check digits computed or verified, with a step-by-step explanation of any wrong check digit
- GS1 print size guidance: magnification, X-dimension, quiet zones and bar height (EAN-13 at 100% is 37.29 x 25.93 mm)
- Vector SVG with exact module widths and a PNG with embedded print resolution; optional snapping to 203/300/600 dpi label printers

Limitations
- Does not issue, register or look up GS1 company prefixes, GTINs or ISBNs; real retail UPC/EAN numbers must be licensed from GS1
- Does not scan or read barcode images and does not look up products or prices
- 2D codes (QR, Data Matrix, PDF417) are not offered
- One barcode per request; Code 128 up to 80 characters, Code 39 up to 60, GS1-128 up to 48 data characters
